Wooden Swing Door

A wooden swing door are in most cases supported by a 4inch or 5inch hinge. Issues usually arise when the hinge are old and starting to warp or loosen. Another issue is the fact that wood can expand and warp over time.

The benefits of a wooden door is that there are more options for repair than compared to other material. Which is why it is still one of the preferred material for doors.

Common issue for wooden swing doors includes alignment, where your door suddenly have to be forced to shut or the door lock malfunction

Glass Swing Door

A glass swing door on the other hand is usually supported by glass hinges or a pivot system. A pivot system is as seen in the photo to the right where the glass has no visible hinges and the system is on the floor and ceiling.

This is more commonly seen in commercial buildings. For residential places, this system is usually used for areas such as the study room.

On the other hand we have the hinge system glass door which is more commonly used in the restrooms as a divider between the dry and wet area.

It is connected to another glass or to the wall and would usually come in a pair unless the size of the glass is on the larger side (above 7 feet), than would there be 3 or even 4 of such hinges on a glass door.
