A handyman is a really generic term and we ourself do consider our skillset as a knowledge in various general repair work but a master of none.
The main difference between us and a normal layman or even a specialised contractor such as tilers, carpenter etc is that we face various different situation everyday.
One job can be about plumbing and pipe fitting and the next job is about glass followed by a carpentry job or a simple household item installation eg: fans.
As such we are really a jack of all trades and compared to a tiler that does tile for all his job, his mastery of the craft would definitely be better than us.
So why a handyman?
The issue is a tiler are usually unwilling to work on a small job such as replacing 2-3 tiles as their job scope usually involves laying the tile for an entire kitchen or toilet at the minimum.
As such that is where we handyman comes in to fill the gap. With this in mind the scope of operation for a handyman also differs as different work would require different tools.
As such our van are usually stock to the brim with various equipment from power tools such as grinder, drill, circular saw to hand held tools such as spanner, glass cutter, diamond drill etc.
With this we hope that you have better idea on what a handyman is vs the contractor you see during a renovation of a home.
